This Privacy Policy explains how Expense Care ("we", "our", or "us")
collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal information when you use our
mobile application ("App"). By using Expense Care, you agree to the practices
described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information:
a) Account Information
- Full name and email address (provided during sign-up or via Google Sign-In)
- Profile photo URL (from your Google account, if you use Google Sign-In)
- Authentication credentials managed securely by Firebase Authentication
b) Financial Data You Provide
- Expense records: amount, currency, category, date/time, and optional notes
- Budget limits (daily, weekly, monthly)
- Savings goals and deposit history
- Recurring expense configurations
- Preferred currency and theme preferences
c) Files You Upload
- Receipt images you choose to attach to expense records
- Profile avatar photos
d) Usage and Technical Data
- Device type and operating system version
- App crash reports and performance data (via Firebase Analytics, if enabled)
- Network connectivity status (used for offline sync features)
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information collected to:
- Provide and operate the Expense Care service
- Authenticate your identity and secure your account
- Sync your financial data across your devices
- Calculate budget usage and display spending summaries
- Send push notifications for budget alerts and recurring expenses (only if you enable them)
- Store receipt images and make them accessible to you
- Improve app performance and fix bugs
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal or financial data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.
3. Data Storage and Security
- All data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore, Firebase Storage, Firebase Authentication), hosted on Google Cloud infrastructure.
- Each user's data is strictly isolated — Firestore security rules ensure you can only access your own data.
- Receipt images are stored in Firebase Storage under a path accessible only to your authenticated account.
- Passwords are never stored by us — they are managed entirely by Firebase Authentication.
- Data cached locally on your device (for offline use) is stored in an application-private sandbox and is cleared when you sign out.
- All communication between the App and Firebase is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS.
4. Third-Party Services
Expense Care uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:
- Firebase (Google LLC) — Authentication, database, storage, push notifications, and analytics.

- Google Sign-In (Google LLC) — OAuth 2.0 authentication.

- Currency Exchange Rate API — Used only to fetch current exchange rates; no personal data is sent to this service.
5. Push Notifications
If you enable notifications, we use Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) to send:
- Budget warning alerts (at 80% and 100% of your daily limit)
- Recurring expense confirmation notifications
- Optional daily reminders to log your expenses
You can disable all notifications at any time from the Profile screen within the App,
or through your device's system notification settings.
6. Data Retention
- Your data is retained as long as your account is active.
- If you delete your account, all associated data (expenses, goals, receipts, profile information) is permanently deleted from our systems within 30 days.
- You can delete your account at any time from the Profile screen → "Delete Account".
7. Children's Privacy
Expense Care is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly
collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has
provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
8. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your data — all your financial data is visible within the App at all times.
- Correct your data — you can edit expenses, goals, and profile information directly in the App.
- Delete your data — you can delete individual expenses or your entire account from the App.
- Export your data — CSV export is planned for a future version.
- Opt out of analytics and notifications — configurable from the Profile screen.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the
"Last Updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify
you via an in-app message or push notification. Continued use of the App after changes
are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
